March Update

Friends & Family: Forgive me for not being more consistent with these updates...please know how often I think of each of you who are financially and/or prayerfully supporting our work here in Albuquerque. I trust this update will find you rejoicing in His grace. Here's the latest news regarding High Desert Church (PCA): -In the past six weeks or so we have seen several new couples attending one of our two Bible study groups. In addition, folks are beginning to invite their friends who are looking for a church home...which means the group is expanding beyond just my 'contacts.' -A very simple website, highdesertpca.com, should be up and running in the next week or two. No one would every confuse me with a webmaster (!), but I've found an easy way to get our information up on the web. We'll revamp (likely, with professional help!) the website once we are ready to launch weekly Sunday morning services. -High Desert is having our first worship service on Thursday, April 21 at 7pm here in Albuquerque, at a meeting room at Sandia Labs Federal Credit Union (for you locals, 3707 Juan Tabo NE, at JT and Comanche). This is a Maundy Thursday worship service, not advertised, just for our core group and folks they want to invite. After eight months of gathering people, I think it will be fun for all of us to 'taste' worship together, and give a preview to our friends and family. If any of you are local and would like to come, we'd love to see you! So you can see, there is much to thank God for! Please remember us in your prayers in the following ways: 1. That our core group will continue to invite others to our bible study groups, and that we will increase in numbers. We have about 20 adults involved at this point...I'd like to see that number at 40 by the time we're ready to 'launch'. 2. That our Maundy Thursday service will be an encouragement to those who attend...and that those who come will sense the very presence of God in our midst. 3. That as folks in our group sense God calling them to our mission church, that they will begin to contribute financially to HDC. A friend of mine reminds me often that he loves his job: he says he is 'living the dream.' Blog readers, please know that I am truly 'living the dream' by seeing God at work here in Albuquerque...and your support is a huge part of that! Yours in Christ, Dan

February Update

Friends & family:
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support of High Desert Church (PCA). Here is the latest news and ways you can pray for this project:
News:
-In January it was my intention to begin 'DNA' meetings with our current small group...but the timing was just not right. I was rushing things, and it was good to slow down and focus on the group we currently have, and continue networking, in order to grow our group. I hope to begin 'DNA' meetings sometime down the road this year.
-In January and February we are just meeting twice a month for bible study. We will relaunch our Sunday night group in March (we also have a Thursday night group).
-Tomorrow's study will be the first one held in someone else's home (not ours)! This is a praise. And there looks to be 'record turnout', if everyone who is planning on coming actually attends. This is great news, especially considering the home we're meeting in tomorrow night is on the West Side of Albuquerque (our plans as of now are to plant on the far North side of ABQ).
-High Desert has her own checking account, as of this week, which will allow core group members to give.
Prayer Requests:
-For energy and focus. I've been in ABQ six months and have hit the proverbial wall in terms of networking. Please pray for new avenues to open in terms of relationships here.
-For our core group, that we may develop meaningful relationships with one another, while looking around us in our workplaces, schools, etc. in terms of reaching others with the Gospel of Christ.
-For future planning...I am contemplating putting together a Maundy Thursday evening worship service (Thursday before Easter, celebrating The Last Supper), just to give a 'taste' of what High Desert worship might look like. This will entail finding a musician, as well as a place to worship (I'm thinking a hotel meeting room, to seat around 50). Please pray for wisdom, and if this idea is to go forward, for all the details to fall into place.
-For my family and my marriage. I love Carrie, Noah and Caleb, and would appreciate your prayers for each of them!

May God richly bless each one of you,

Dan
